If you fear ghosts, then this page can help! Many suffer from various fears, and our culture has a history of being afraid of ghosts and things that go bump in the night. The fear of ghosts is commonly known as "phasmophobia" or “spectrophobia," meaning fear of specters (and one's own reflection). Fear originates in our brain's most basic parts, produced as a chemical by the amygdala. This chemical produces the fear we feel in order to get us to react in defense. It can be observed in animal behavior and is known as the “fight or flight” response.
Because of our natural tendency to react to fear, we leave reasoning behind. It does not help that cultures and religions from around the world have superstitions steeped in fear regarding ghosts. The bottom-line is that you can work through this mindset and no longer be afraid of ghosts.
I, too, had once suffered from fear of ghosts. Hollywood movies and frightening television shows taught me that ghosts were devilish entities who hid in the dark to attack the unsuspecting. I found out that most of my beliefs about ghosts were unfounded. In fact, I decided to investigate ghosts and communicate with them in order to better understand what ghosts think and how we can help them. As I faced my fears about spirits and the unknown, I eventually realized my beliefs were false.
Much of the fear that is created about entities and haunting has been done through lack of understanding. Ghosts are simply a misunderstood phenomenon that is a natural part of the cycle of life. I have found that fear is man-made, meaning it is something we can control and overcome because we accept and perpetuate our fears. As we eventually face our fears, they dissipate. This is why Neale Donald Walsch said that fear is “false evidence appearing real.” Our fears are based upon beliefs and not knowledge of the truth of the matter.
Can you imagine your life free from the fear of ghosts? If you are living with the fear of ghosts, know that it is time to work through the false beliefs that are the root of your suffering. I am not suggesting that you must go on a ghost investigation to eliminate your fear, but it is possible that if you seek to better understand ghosts and ghostly behavior, then you will gain a new perspective from which to conquer your fears.
The book, Helping Ghosts: A Guide to Understanding Lost Spirits, best explains what ghosts are and why they behave the way they do. In fact, you might be surprised to learn that many ghosts are actually helpful and loving. You'll also learn that ghosts are just lost people in need of direction. Helping Ghosts tells the compelling story of hearing messages from ghosts and how we discovered we could help them! The book is written in such a way that it will challenge the reader's preconceived ideas about ghosts. The words in its pages will help you overcome your fear and cause you to view the world from a higher perspective. It should be healing to all who read it.
